Learn to Calculate your Body Fat.
Everyone seems to be wanting to lose weight nowadays. But an important part of losing weight which many people just don’t seem to consider is the ability to calculate your body fat. It is really important that you know what your body fat percentage is, because this is really the true measure and indication, of whether you need to lose weight or not. A person could weigh a lot and yet be very low in body fat, because he works out and does a lot of exercise. The amount of body fat you have is actually even more important than the weight. That means that the ability to calculate your body fat becomes extremely important.
Your weight doesn’t really show what your fitness level is and when you calculate your body fat percentage, you have a better understanding of what your real situation is.
To calculate total body fat you will need to use the Body Mass Index, otherwise known as the BMI. So if a woman wants to know how to calculate body fat, she needs to know that, she should have a 20 to 31% body fat percentage. Of course, if she really works out, and is in absolutely top shape then that body fat could go as low as 10%.
If you are a guy then you need to calculate your body fat at a lower percentage. A mans body fat should be about 14 to 25% and when a man really is in good physical shape and works out a lot his body fat could be as low as 2%.
Let’s demonstrate the method used on how to calculate body fat:
1. Weigh yourself and be completely honest
2. Multiply your weight by 1.082, then write down the result and add it to 94.42 and write down that number.
3. Measure your waist and then multiply it by 4.15. Subtract the number you get from the number you wrote down in step 1. This result is what your lean body fat would be if you had no fat/
4. Subtract that number form your total body weight, and multiply the number by 100. Then divide this number by your body weigh. This is your final body fat calc and the percentage of fat that you are carrying around..
When you are thinking of losing weight it is important that you understand that the ability to calculate your body fat is much more important than your total weight and this is what you really need to reduce and worry about more than actual pounds.
